PRS for music

I want to play my music to an audience how can i do this?

You would need a license - why is this?
To stop people from stealing your music.

Who would you need to contact to get a license to play radio music?
You would have to contact PRS for music and select the appropriate licensing out of the five types listed below.

Name 5 types of license for radio broadcasting:
-Commercial radio
-Community radio
-Hospital radio
-Long term radio license
-Short term radio license. 

What is Net broadcasting revenue?
Amount of money a radio station makes from all different areas and then 85% of that figure.

If you are a community station with a NBR of less than £22,238 how much would your PRS 
royalty fee be?
When a community station makes an annual NBR less than £22,238 the royalty fee would be £667

What does MCPS stand for?
MCPS is mechanical performing rights. Mechanical copyright protection society.

Whats the difference between PRS and MCPS?
Performing right entitles you to earn money when your music is played on TV , radio , online , downloaded etc. Mechanical rights allow you to earn money whenever a song or composition which you have written is re-produced .

What is PPL?
PPL collects and distributes fees for the use of recorded music on behalf of record companies and performers.

Would you need a PPL license to play music on the radio?
The permission of the copyright holder/s of recorded music is required by law before it can be played and a PPL licence gives you this permission.

What is the difference between PPL and PRS?
PRS for music collects the license fee on behalf of the songwriter. PPL collects the license fee on behalf of the performers and record companies.

What license would you need to produce a podcast - which was broadcasted online ?
To produce a podcast broadcasted online you could use one of the following licenses:
Online music license (OML)
